New characters for 'Star Wars: Battlefront' revealed
Three iconic characters will make DICE’s latest shooter title even more epic for long-time fans of the franchise. These include a beloved princess, her dashing hero and a scheming villain, who will all join the roster of playable characters for “Star Wars Battlefront.”
Revealed via PlayStation Blog, the first of the characters is none other than Princess Leia Organa. Hailing from the royal Rebel background, Leia is a fearless character whose strategic mind knows no boundaries. Leia, despite being more of a leader plays the role of a support, helping team members and holding positions.
Players spawning close to her proximity will spawn as Alderaan Honor Guards. In the game, Leia will possess a blaster shot called Trooper Bane. Being a hard hitting shot, it will instantly kill stormtroopers in one hit and deal heavy damage to villains.
Other abilities include the Enhanced Squad Shield which is a stronger version of the regular Squad Shield Power Card. Supply Drop, on the other hand makes Leia an asset for Rebel forces by providing power ups for ground troopers and health for hero characters.
“Leia was trickier in that regard since she doesn’t have a specific, favorite weapon, so we had to represent her in another way,” said Jamie Keen, lead hero designer for "Star Wars Battlefront" over at the official PlayStation Blog.
Second is Han Solo, the fierce, fearless and independent character who likes to wander alone. Although, he is similar to a Rebel trooper, Han’s offensive output, damage and mobility makes him a preferred choice for newbies in the game. His Rapid Fire shot is great for tackling small groups since this ability allows him to keep firing the weapon without overheating. Not to mention that he has always been an appealing character way back in the movies as played by Harrison Ford.
Han’s second power named Lucky Shot is a hard hitting slow attack mechanism that is highly effective against vehicles. It is also powerful enough to penetrate Darth Vader’s defenses. The last ability Shoulder Charge can be used to quickly get into or back out from battles.
The new villain for “Star Wars Battlefront” is Emperor Palpatine. As seen in the older movies, he is all about deception, fooling people by appearing to be fragile and weak when he is evil to the core. His main attack Force Lightning does a lot of damage to troops within reach. Force Dash on the other hand, activates the ability to move extremely fast in his current direction adding an element of surprise to the character.
Being the Empire Team’s support, he is capable of providing powers both for others and himself. His Imperial Boost ability can be used to provide power-ups to team members and boosts to villains.
Before the new characters were revealed, these were previously spotted by dataminers, reported PCgamer. “Star Wars: Battlefront” releases on Nov. 17 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
