Samsung has been releasing a slew of devices this year with the Galaxy S5, Galaxy K Zoom, Galaxy Tab S and Galaxy S5 Mini leading the way. However, there is a new addition to the Galaxy Tab series of tablets with the Galaxy Tab Q (also referred as the Galaxy W) waiting to be released.

The company released the Galaxy W in its home country South Korea in June, and the same device is expected to make a landfall in other markets shortly. Notably, the tablet was officially launched in China recently with a brand new name Samsung Galaxy Tab Q, according to Phone Arena.

The Galaxy Tab Q features a 7.0-inch TFT display with 720 x 1,280 pixels (HD) screen resolution. Interestingly, the device comes with an aspect ratio of 16:9. Even though the Galaxy Tab Q is designated as a tablet, the device can make voice/phone calls.

If this is not interesting enough, the tablet come with a whopping dimension measurement of 191.84 x 99.7 x 8.95 mm and it weighs a solid 250 g. This clearly shows that the device is not appropriate to be used as a smartphone to make phone calls. Nevertheless, the calling functionality is part of the device anyway. Under the hood, the Galaxy Tab Q is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. And it runs on the older version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. When it comes to connectivity, apart from supporting LTE, the device also supports NFC.

In addition, the tablet sports an 8 MP rear-facing camera unit and a 2 MP front-facing shooter. When it comes to memory, the Galaxy Tab Q features an inferior 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage capacity with microSD card support for further expansion. Also, the device houses a 3,200 mAh battery unit.

Apparently, there are 2 models of Samsung Galaxy Tab Q in China - SM-T2556 and SM-T2558. However the intriguing fact about this tablet is that, the model number SM-T2558 supports dual SIM mode.

Samsung has not officially confirmed the device's release in other regions thus far. Nevertheless, the device is expected to be launched soon. Interested readers should check out the images of Samsung Galaxy Tab Q from Phone Arena.
