Next-gen Apple TV with motion-sensing remote will cost twice

The next-generation Apple TV will be out by September 9, and will reportedly be priced twice the unit that is currently in the market today. Although its actual price has yet to be confirmed, the Cupertino tech giant is reporteldy closing in on a final price tag.

As reported by 9to5Mac, the company has not yet decided on what the new Apple TV's price is going to be, but rumour has it that it will range from $149 to $199. The unit that exists in the market today - a third-generation set-top box - was only priced at $99 during the time that it was launched.

Months after it was unveiled, its price has already been bumped down to $69. This massive discount has led avid Apple users to speculate that a new Apple TV unit will be coming soon. However, their initial expectations was that the device was going to be priced at around the same price of the current Apple TV. Little did they know that it was more likely going to cost at two times its price.

As pointed out by Tech Times, this probable price increase was only brought about by the new features that the next-gen Apple TV's competitors do not have. At a price of approximately $200, users of the new Apple TV can gain access to new whistles and bells. Plus, it will also come with a motion-sensing remote control - which means that the unit may function like a Wii U with gesture-controlled activities.

Furthermore, the new Apple TV will also reportedly offer voice commands, as a connected project with Siri - Apple's pretty sassy digital personal assistant. In addition to that, to make the set-top box even more interesting, users will be given access to an App Store with a multitude of TV apps.

On a physical standpoint, Apple has also given the console a much sleeker, interface. Despite its new look, the box will reportedly still be easy to navigate.
