Rockstar Games has announced that the PS4 and Xbox One versions of “Grand Theft Auto V” will be getting the “Rockstar Editor” on the game’s next update. Before the announcement was made, the Rockstar Editor was originally exclusive to the PC version of the game, but it seems like that’s no longer the case. That being said, it seems like the Rockstar Editor will not be coming to the PS3 or Xbox 360.

The mode can be used to make short films or videos based on gameplay footage of the title. Players will be able to capture and edit whatever actions they’ve done in the game and turn it into an entertaining video. Rockstar Games made the announcement at the end of a blog post, after the developer crowned a winner for a Rockstar Editor contest.

One particularly noteworthy feature of the Rockstar Editor is the Director Mode. This feature allows players to stage whatever scenario they have in mind while also letting players use certain character models and props. The mode has proven to be quite popular, with numerous videos being made and uploaded to YouTube and Machinima.

According to GameSpot, another Rockstar Editor contest will be coming, and this time it will include the console versions of the game. That’s assuming that the Rockstar Editor launches with no problems on the console versions of the game.

No release date has been revealed for the patch or the Rockstar Editor, though the company has promised that it would be launching very soon. The next update will also add more content to “Grand Theft Auto Online,” which has also proven to be one of the game’s more popular modes recently. Considering that the last-gen versions of the game still support “Grand Theft Auto Online,” it will be interesting to see if those versions get some sort of update.

“Grand Theft Auto V” originally launched for last-gen consoles but was quickly ported to the current-gen consoles with some new features, like a first-person point of view. The PC version was delayed for quite sometime but was finally released earlier this year with the aforementioned Rockstar Editor.
