Nexus Player (2015) release date imminent as Google Nexus Player gets discounted by 50% on Best Buy
Google Nexus Player an Android TV box built by Asus is expected to get replaced by a newer model soon. The purported 2015 Nexus Player has cleared FCC certifications in the U.S. Its release is imminent as the price of the Nexus Player has been axed by 50 percent on Best Buy.
Best Buy has slashed the price of the Asus Nexus Player to $49. The regular price of the device is $99. The device can function like a basic gaming device by connecting the Asus wireless gamepad. Even the price of the gamepad has been slashed by $10, Android and Me reported.
Speculations are rife that the recent discount on the Nexus Player is an indication that Google is trying to finish the remaining stock of the device. The FCC filling of the alleged 2015 Nexus Player reveals that the forthcoming device will be featuring support 2.4 GH and 5 GHz Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth LE. However, the FCC listing does not directly confirm that it is forthcoming Nexus Player.
According to Phandroid, since the device is not meant to be used with smartphones and tablets, it seems to be multimedia device. The 2015 Nexus Player is equipped with 1 Ethernet port, 4 USB slots and 1 microSD slot. It is expected to arrive with an enhanced remote. Like the original Nexus Player, the upcoming device is expected to sport a round design.
In the previous year, the Nexus Player was revealed on the same day when Google unleashed the Motorola Nexus 6 phablet and the HTC Nexus 9 tablet. On Sept. 29, the search engine giant is slated to hold a launch event for the LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6P smartphones. Fresh rumours suggest that a new Chromecast and the next generation Nexus Player will be also announced on Sept. 29.
