For the first time in his career, Frank Gore will become a free agent in the National Football League, or NFL, after spending the past 10 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. The star running back stated that there’s a chance that he remains in S.F. but said that management would decide his fate there.

Gore took to social media, Instagram to share his thoughts about the pending free agency and his status with the 49ers. “I know the fans love me,” Gore posted on his Instagram on Sunday “But I need to know if the management does but I’m going to love my fans no matter what.”

Gore will officially hit free agency on March 10, 2015 and already there are other NFL teams reportedly interested in acquiring him in this offseason. Gore is one of the premier running backs in the league, running for at least 1,000 yards in eight of ten seasons in his NFL career. Gore is the franchise’s all-time leader in rushing yards with 11,073 for his career. Gore, who made the Pro Bowl five times in 2006, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013, was a third round pick by the 49ers in the 2005 NFL Draft.

According the Sacramento Bee, Gore is also looking to join a team that has a good chance to win the Super Bowl and the chance once again to hit the 1,000-plus rushing yards for the season. The 49ers fired Jim Harbaugh as head coach of the team early in the offseason and hired Jim Tomsula. Reports within the camp is that Gore and Harbaugh were close and it remains to be seen how Tomsula sees the 31 year old Gore in his offensive scheme.

In his introductory press conference as head coach, Gore was non-committal on his plans at the running back position but stated that he likes the dynamics and chemistry between the players. San Francisco missed the NFL postseason in 2014 going just 8-8 in the regular season. San Francisco lost four of their last five games to bow out of contention for the playoffs.
