NFL News: Star DE J.J. Watt Re-Works Deal To Help Houston Texans

J.J. Watt is also helping the Houston Texans off the field in their finances in the 2015 offseason of the National Football League, or NFL. The superstar defensive player has agreed with the Texas team to restructure his contract before the start of the new season to add $8 million in salary cap space for his team.
The re-worked deal is being reported by Field Yates of ESPN.com and his league sources have confirmed that Watt’s $10 million roster bonus was turned into a signing bonus which allowed the team to have more cap space in the offseason and which will be used to target other free agents before the start of the 2015 season.

Watt was the 2014 NFL Defensive Player of the Year and one of the top candidates for the league’s Most Valuable Player award which was won by Super Bowl winner Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. Watt, who plays the defensive end position, was credited 20.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 10 blocked passes in the 2014 season to lead the Texans to a 9-7 win-loss record. Watt was the 11th overall pick by Houston in the 2011 NFL Draft and has been with the team the past four seasons. Watt extended his contract with the Texans with a six-year deal worth around $100 million before the start of the 2014 season.
In related Houston Texans news, the team announced that they have earned three compensatory picks in the 2015 NFL draft after the NFL Management Council awarded the Texans the No. 38 pick in the fifth round and the No. 36 and No. 41 picks in the sixth round.
