Nokia Lumia 1020: Telstra Cancels Pre-Orders on Nokia Cameraphone, Offers Customers with Free Nokia Lumia 520 Instead
Australian carrier Telstra reportedly cancelled the pre-orders on the Nokia Lumia 1020 cameraphone. Jason Cartwright of techAU reports about receiving the bad news from Telsta through a phone call where the company apologized for the pre-order cancellation due to unspecified Nokia software issues.

Telstra has not given any assurance as well on when the Nokia Lumia 1020 pre-orders will resume. However, the telecommunications company decided to offer the customers with a Nokia Lumia 520 Windows Phone handset for free in addition to their apology.
Mr Cartwright updated on the techAU report: "The Lumia 520 arrived today as compensation for not receiving the 1020. While it is frustrating, as far as compensation goes, this is pretty great. The issue clearly lies with Telstra as the Lumia 1020 is being sold on Optus and through retailers like Harvey Norman. As someone mid-way through a 24 month contract on the 920, my only affordable option is to wait for Telstra and Nokia to resolve the issue."
Rival Australian carrier Optus made the Nokia Lumia 1020 cameraphone available in Australia on Tuesday, September 17, with officially unveiled pricing and plan details. Optus confirmed that customers can choose from the five plans available over a two-year contract.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 Optus price and plan details begin with the entry level $35 Optus My Plan with $22 handset repayment to the top $100 My Plan without handset repayment. The telecommunications company seems to be focusing on plugging the $80 My Plan which comes with a $4 per month handset repayment and includes 800 minutes of standard national voice calls, unlimited standard SMS and MMS messages to Australian mobiles and 2GB of data per month.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 boasts with the 41MP PureView camera that can simultaneously capture 34MP or 38MP high-resolution images and a 5MP image to be shared on social networking sites. The cameraphone features as well the latest Pro Camera app that allows the owners to manually adjust the camera settings such as exposure level, white balance and shutter speed.
In terms of design and specifications, the Nokia Lumia 1020 has similarities with the other Nokia Lumia range still selling in Australia like the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 925. The Nokia handset sports a 4.5-inch AMOLED screen display with 1280x768p resolution, 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB memory storage capacity.
The available colour choices for the Nokia Lumia 1020 in Australia are black, white and yellow, but Optus will be offering the black variant only. The ARN report claims Nokia will be selling the Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone through the major Australian retailers like Dick Smith, Allphones and Harvey Norman with the outright price of $899.
