Nokia Lumia 1020: Unveiled 41MP Smartphone Availability and Price [PHOTOS]
Nokia has officially introduced the 41MP Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone to compete with the rival Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Availability of the latest Lumia range in the U.S. will start on July 26 with an estimated selling price of $300 while China and Europe is schedule to offer the device in September 2013.
In Germany, some retailers are already offering the Nokia Lumia 1020 on pre-order with a price of €799 (US$1044) SIM-free. Telefonica's leaked documents indicated that O2 will release the new Nokia device this coming September with a 64GB version.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 boasts with its 41MP camera, PureView and image-stabilizing technology and Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 operating system. The Lumia 1020 can be set as high as ISO 3200 which is advanced compared to the typical camera phones and the U.S. version will sync the device with Microsoft's SkyDrive and AT&T's Locker storage services.
Nokia Lumia 1020 has a 4.5-inch AMOLED WXGA screen display with 2.5D sculpted Gorilla Glass 3, PureMotion HD+ ClearBlack, High Brightness Mode, a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage capacity with 7GB Skydrive cloud storage and 2000mAh battery with support on Wireless Charging feature.
The other impressive features and specs of the Nokia Lumia 1020 include Sunlight readability and Super sensitive touch for nail or hand glove usage with available colour choices of yellow, black and white. For the camera, the smartphone has the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Backside-illuminated image sensor, 6 lens optics, High resolution zoom 3x, Autofocus, Xenon Flash, LED for video, 1080p video at 30 fps, Nokia Pro Camera mode and Nokia Smart Camera Mode.
With the Nokia Lumia 1020 unveiled, the Finnish company is hoping that the device could boost up the sales and eventually topping down other rival smartphones in the market. "The hardware's a beauty on this thing," tech Web site Engadget reports after Nokia CEO Stephen Elop demonstrated the new smartphone's camera features.
