Nokia Lumia 525: Windows Phone Handset Put Up For Sale At $100 Price Tag In China
Nokia Lumia 525, a descendant of the Nokia Lumia 520 Windows Phone handset, is now up for sale in select markets with a very affordable price tag. The GSMArena report claimed online smartphone retailer Tmall in China offers the Nokia Lumia 525 with ¥629 price, which is equivalent to $100.
The selling price of the Nokia Lumia 525 has been reduced abruptly in China from its launch price of ¥999 ($165).
The GSMArena report reads: "We just reported yesterday on the strong sales the Lumia 520/521 were accomplishing worldwide, making up 30% of all Windows Phones sold. A lot of it has to do with the fact that the prices of these models are lower than any similar hardware from Android. The Lumia 520, for instance, just recently hit an all-time low price of £70 ($110) SIM-free over at Amazon UK. The Amazon stock is now sold out and the Lumia 520 is back to £100+ ($160+) price levels."
Affordable devices like the Nokia Lumia 525 can convince the consumers to get their hands on the smartphone that offers a 4-inch screen display, 1 GB of RAM and the Windows Phone 8 operating system. The increase in RAM appears to be the selling point of the Nokia Lumia 525 compared to the 512 MB of RAM incorporated in the Nokia Lumia 520.
According to the WMPoweruser report, the Finnish smartphone manufacturer appears to have done well in boosting the RAM to 1 GB and ensuring the low pricing scheme for the handset in the Windows Phone environment.
"It seems Nokia has done what it does best, engineer out even more cost from the range, which should ensure the 52x series remains a Windows Phone monster for some time to come," the report said.
With 1 GB of RAM, the Nokia Lumia 525 users can have access to the latest apps available in the Windows Phone Store since a couple of high-profile apps will not run in lower RAM. An expandable memory storage capacity sounds tempting and the free voice-guided navigation in the Nokia Lumia 525.
However, no official statement has been given yet to inform the consumers in the arrival of the Nokia Lumia 525 in other markets like the U.S. and Europe.
