Nokia Normandy Budget Android Phone to Come in Several Colour Options, Images Leaked Online
The Nokia Normandy budget Android phone is making some noise again on the Internet as the images of the alleged device pop up. Notable mobile device source @evleaks posted on Twitter a leaked image of the Finnish company's first Android-powered device sporting several colour options that consumers can choose from.
"Nokia Normandy, 2013," the tweet reads with the image attached showing off the colourful device.
Even though Nokia is reported to be already scrapping their plans of introducing an Android smartphone, details continue to circulate online with the Finnish smartphone manufacturer looking into Android as the operating system that will give a boost to the budget Asha line.
The leaked image on the Nokia Normandy shows the device sporting the familiar Asha smartphone design where a physical back button on the front panel can be seen. Additionally, the rear panel has the camera accompanied with the Nokia logo branding located at the middle. The colour options for the Nokia Normandy include Black, Cyan, Mint Green, Red, Yellow and White.
"The first test device making use of the alternative OS is supposedly codenamed Nokia Normandy. If it gets to production, it will be released in a variety of colors (typical of Nokia's lower end offerings) and will have a 4-inch screen and dual SIM support. The product code for the phone is said to be RM-980," the GSMArena report reads.
According to NDTV Gadgets, the launching of the Nokia Normandy handset is expected to take place in 2014. Furthermore, the Nokia Normandy will reportedly target the low-cost segment which has more access to traditional smartphone apps that have been absent in the Nokia Series 40-based Asha smartphones.
However, the Finnish company has not yet given any comment that will confirm or deny the existence of the Nokia Normandy budget Android phone.
"We still have no clue what sort of specs were supposed to be inside this thing, but it doesn't sound like it was supposed to be impressive. We do know that Nokia was looking to provide it in multiple color options, though, with @evleaks giving us a look at the full spectrum of colors in a leaked press render," the Phandroid report reads.
