Nokia Lumia 929: 'Icon' Windows Phone Handset Price Confirmed in Verizon Product Page Listing
The alleged Nokia Lumia 929 has been appearing in numerous leaks and the latest has the Finnish device listed in the Verizon product page with the smartphone's pricing details. The U.S. carrier's Web site lists the Windows Phone handset as Nokia Icon instead of Nokia Lumia 929 with the expensive $777 price on a two-year agreement.
The GSMArena report claims the Verizon product page has now been taken down but it described the device to be a premium Windows Phone 8 handset with a 5-inch Full HD 1080p screen display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 20MP PureView camera. The "Icon" is expected to be the second Nokia handset that benefits from the Windows Phone GDR3.
The report further notes that Nokia has the right to set an expensive price for the Nokia Icon since the device's specs and camera features are better compared to other smartphones. Additionally, the Nokia Lumia 929 "Icon" price is still $30 lower compared to Apple's iPhone 5S 32GB version.
Aside from confirming the Nokia device's final name and pricing scheme, Verizon revealed as well a couple of features and specs. The previous leaks on the Nokia Lumia 929 claim the Finnish smartphone will sport a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2420mAh battery and support for NFC, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and Qi Wireless charging.
The Nokia Lumia 929 or Nokia Icon is basically considered to be the Nokia Lumia 1520 Windows Phone handset in a more compact package that includes 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal memory storage capacity. As for the Nokia device's launch date, the Pocket Lint report claims the Finnish smartphone manufacturer is set to unveil their next handset on Tuesday, January 14, with case accessory maker Incipio already teased smartphone cases for the Lumia Icon handset.
Another report from Know Your Mobile suggests the Nokia Icon or Nokia Lumia 929 will be officially launched at the 2014 Mobile World Congress (MWC). The event is scheduled to take place on February 24 to 27 in Barcelona, Spain and Nokia is anticipated to take the same direction of unveiling numerous handsets at the expo like they did in 2013.
