Nokia Lumia 930 has recently been released in many countries across the globe, whereas Motorola's Moto G is one of the highest selling smartphones for the company. The original version of Moto G was released in the last quarter of 2013. In addition, the company also launched a 4G version of Moto G in May 2014. Both the phones pack amazing features, and impressive hardware/software performances. Readers who are interested in purchasing the Moto G or the latest Nokia Lumia 930 should check out this specification and price comparison.

Display, Exterior and Size

The Moto G comes with a 4.5 inches IPS LCD display, whereas the Nokia Lumia 930 features a bigger 5.0 inches display. The Lumia 930 comes with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels screen resolution and 441 ppi pixel density, whereas the Moto G features a relatively lesser 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution and 329 ppi pixel strength.

Moreover, the Moto G features a sharp HD display that stretches from edge-to-edge to all corners of the handset. In addition, the Motorola handset has a plastic body. The Nokia Lumia 930, meanwhile, stands out with the bright and vivid colours that Nokia handsets are known for. Also, the back panel of the handset is made of polycarbonate material that bends around to touch the front side of the phone.

For extra protection, Moto G (4G) variant comes with a water-resistant coating protecting the phone inside and outside. It is worth noting that, the protection is just a coating and hence there is no IP67 certification.

The thickness and the weight of Moto G are 0.46 inches and 143 g respectively, whereas the Lumia 930 is 0.39 inches thick and weighs 167 g. Even though the Moto G is quite bulky, the curved design makes it easier to hold when compared to the rectangular design of Lumia handset. In addition, Moto G has a removable back panel, while the Lumia 930 doesn't. Also, both the handsets are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Hardware, Software and Memory

The Lumia 930 is powered by a superior quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 800) Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.2 GHz. The Moto G, on the other hand, is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. Moreover, the Moto G houses only 1 GB of RAM, while Lumia 930 comes with a solid 2 GB of RAM.

The Moto G (4G) variant runs on Android OS v4.4.2 (KitKat), while the 2013 Moto G model runs on Android OS v4.3 (Jelly Bean). However, both the models are upgradable to higher Android versions. Nokia Lumia 930, meanwhile, runs on the latest Windows Phone 8.1 OS.

The Moto G comes with 8 GB or 16 GB of internal storage with no microSD slot. Nevertheless, the 4G variant of Moto G houses microSD slot for expansion up to 32 GB. Even though, the Lumia 930 offers 32 GB of internal storage, there is no support for microSD card.

Camera and Battery

The Moto G sports a 5 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera unit. The Lumia 930, meanwhile, comes with a whopping 20 MP PureView primary camera with dual LED flash and a 1.2 MP secondary camera unit. Hence, Nokia Lumia 930 is a clear winner in the camera specifications category.

Also, the Moto G houses a good non-removable Li-Ion 2070 mAh battery unit, whereas the Lumia 930 houses a non-removable 2420 mAh battery unit. In addition, the Lumia handset comes with a built-in wireless charging capability.

Connectivity and SIM

Both the phones support Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11, and Wi-Fi hotspot. While the Nokia Lumia 930 supports NFC, the Moto G doesn't. In addition, the Motorola handset supports micro-sim, whereas the Nokia handset supports nano-sim. It is worth noting that, while several variants of Moto G supports dual-sim mode, the Nokia handset doesn't.

Colour

The Moto G comes with a black/white front panel but the back panel is customizable with six different colour options, whereas the Lumia 930 comes in 4 bright shades orange, green, black, and white.

Motorola Moto G (4G) 8 GB is priced at AU$299.95, while the 2013 Moto G 8 GB (without 4G LTE) variant can be purchased at AU$249.95 in Australia.
