The killer NVIDIA SHIELD tablet that doubles as a gaming device was released in July. However, only the 16 GB variant hit the store shelves, but now the 32 GB variant is also available for purchase.

Apparently, the pre-order window for the NVIDIA SHIELD tablet is now open to potential buyers. Upon ordering the 32 GB (4G LTE) model, the tablet will reach the buyers' doorsteps starting Sept. 30 in the U.S. and Europe, according to Phone Arena.

As far as the specifications goes, the NVIDIA SHIELD tablet comes with an 8-inch IPS LCD display combined with 1,920 x 1,200 pixels resolution and 283 ppi pixel density. The device features a high grain polycarbonate back panel with matte finish. The tablet's back shell does not feel rubbery and the sides have bevelled edges, says Anand Tech. Being the rugged device, the SHIELD's thickness and the weight are 9.2 mm and 390 g, respectively.

The tablet is powered by a killer quad-core (Tegra K1) Cortex A15 processor, clocked at 2.2 GHz along with Kepler 1 SMX GPU and 2 GB of RAM. It is worth noting that, the aforementioned Tegra K1 processor is world's most advanced mobile processor. Speaking of OS, the device runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS. As mentioned earlier, the device comes equipped with 16 GB and 32 GB of internal storage and microSD card support for expansion up to 128 GB.

Moreover, the SHIELD tablet sports a 5 MP primary camera unit with no flash support, in addition to a 5 MP selfie camera in the front. Notably, the device is backed by a never-before-seen 5197 mAh battery unit. Other salient features include an improved "Direct Stylus," stereo speakers and LTE/WiFi-only model choices. In addition to the standard connectivity options, the NVIDIA tablet also supports mini HDMI port. Furthermore, gaming enthusiasts can buy the optional SHIELD controller for $59.99.

The NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet (32 GB, 4G LTE) is priced at $399 outright. Meanwhile, AT&T customers are eligible for a $100 credit upon availing a data plan from the carrier. Also, interested readers can buy the 16 GB, WiFi-only variant for $299. The SHIELD tablet can be purchased directly from NVIDIA. In addition, Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Fry's Electronics, Micro Center, Tiger Direct and Newegg are also offering this device.
