OnePlus 2 is one of the most awaited flagships of 2015. The Chinese manufacturer has confirmed that the OnePlus One successor will be unleashed to the world on July 27. It will be holding a virtual reality launch at 10 PM EDT and it will be viewable to all OnePlus fans through live streaming.

On its official Facebook page, OnePlus has posted a new image that teases a fingerprint scanner along with the text “The OnePlus 2 Security.” Phone Arena claims that the handset will arrive with a fingerprint scanner as the purported image of the device that was spotted recently also featured a fingerprint scanner on its rear. As of this writing, there is no direct proclamation from OnePlus on the inclusion of fingerprint scanner on OnePlus 2.

OnePlus had promised to the audience that it will be unveiling the OnePlus 2 features piece-by-piece. On June 17, an official post on OnePlus forums revealed that the OnePlus 2 will be featuring the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 chipset.

The SoC comes with a 64-bit octa-core processor and Adreno 430 graphics. The post claims that the company had teamed up with Qualcomm to roll out an improved version of Snapdragon 810 that is free from overheating issues.

On June 22, OnePlus revealed through an official Google+ post that the OnePlus 2 will be first ever smartphone to release with the innovative USB Type-C connector onboard. On June 25, the Chinese smartphone maker proclaimed on OnePlus forums that the OnePlus 2 will be launched through a Virtual Reality event on July 27.

According to Phone arena, the handset is poised to house a 5.5-inch to 5.7-inch display. As of this writing, there is no confirmation on whether it will support full HD resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels or Quad HD resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels.

Like it did for the OnePlus One, the successor model too will be initially available on invitation basis. The company has decided to continue using the invitation system for the OnePlus 2 only because it wants to maintain a balance between supply and demand.
