OnePlus One Users Will Receive Android Lollipop OxygenOS And CyaongenOS Updates By March End
OnePlus One is one of the hottest selling smartphones from 2014. It is one of the smartphones that have been waiting to receive Android Lollipop update. OnePlus has made an official announcement that the OxygenOS based Lollipop and the CyanogenMod 12S, the official OTA update will be coming to OnePlus owners by the end of this month.
In the official post released on the OnePlus Forums, the Chinese manufacturer thanks its users for being patient while waiting for the Lollipop update. The post says that the official CyanogenMod (CM) 12S OTA update will be available to the users by March 30.
OnePlus is also releasing Lollipop based ROM, the OxygenOS and users will be able to download it by March 27. The International Business Times report from Feb 24 states that OnePlus had already confirmed the arrival of both the Lollipop ROMs for OnePlus One users.
OnePlus further says that the reason behind the delay in rolling out the update is that it encountered unanticipated issues. It had to resolve issues related to OS signing, camera module stability, Wi-Fi drivers and more in order to ensure that the public release version of the software update will be from any kind of problems. OnePlus says that it believes in releasing stable updates instead of rolling out low quality updates quickly, but it took them more time than they had strategized.
OnePlus is quite serious about rolling out the Lollipop update to its users. It has made a commitment to the audience by stating that if it fails to release Lollipop updates on the promised dates, it will give five 64 GB OnePlus handsets to its fans. In order to be eligible for it, OnePlus has suggested its fans to reply on the forum thread.
The popularity of the OnePlus One has not died yet. The IBTimes report from March 5 states that the Chinese manufacturer is aiming to release the One handset in 16 European nations. Apart from the home country China, it is also available in other countries like the U.S., the U.K, India, Canada, France, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Taiwan.
