PC Gaming Updates: Star Citizen’s Squadron 42; World of Warcraft’s 5th Expansion; Beyond PC with Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft
Blizzard's World of Warcraft is far from kicking the bucket, not only because of the hordes of fans and following for the game title, but also because there is a fifth expansion to the game underway.
Gameplanet has caught up with Chris Robinson, senior art director for World of Warcraft, to discuss the future of the fifth expansion.
One of the biggest gripes with a long-running game that keeps getting an expansion would be the ever-looming danger of repeating what has already been done or making the difference too insignificant to matter.
Aside from this, the developers have found a way to deal with the real-time strategy basis for the MMO aspect of the game. For Warlords of Draenor, gamers can easily invite other gamers to their own garrison - ones that can be built from scratch and customised according to how the gamer wants it to look like.

Shared space and economy in the game will be brought to life - while this is a great concept, there will surely be different reactions to it. One other dramatic change that players can expect is the character modelling, which have supposedly been overhauled and detailed, just so World of Warcraft can still tkae advantage of its engine to the fullest.
"We have a team of four really talented character artists all working on it at the same time. Typically, you want to say design by committee is the worst possible thing you could do--especially when it comes to art--but it has worked with the revamped characters," said Robinson to Gameplanet.

Star Citizen goes for the stretch goal and quality console ports
Star Citizen may still have an entire year before its launch on 2015, but it has reached far more than its original intended game price for the creation of the game.
Polygon reports that the mark for $29 million had meant getting the single-player campaign.
"Squadron 42 can go above and beyond anything you've seen before," said Roberts in the official statement quoted by Polygon.
"From opening with an epic battle instead of a training patrol to missions that seamlessly combine boarding and space combat, we aim to put you right into the action!"

And while there is already another goal in sight, which is $32 million, to get additional ships and improvements, it appears that the only platform for which the game will release in is the PC.
There has been another report from Eurogamer, saying that there are rumors of a PS4 port for Star Citizen, but it seems that this was purely a mistake. Game Developer Chris Roberts has assured fans that the game will be for PC only.
However, perhaps if there is a chance to make it feel and look good in the PS4 and Xbox One in the same way that it is for the PC, then a port may still be created someday.

Developing Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft on mobile devices
Heartstone: Heroes of Warcraft has had a solid presence in PC gaming for a while, but the developer has started to propel the game to another platform territory: mobile devices.
Speaking with AusGamers, Hamilton Chu of Blizzard has revealed the challenge of transferring the UI experience of the game from the level of PC to that of tablets and the even smaller smartphones.

"It is a challenge. We're still working on it, but you're right, so much of the game is not just about the mechanics of the card game, but just the overall experiences--with the sound and the art being beautiful, and the special effects and even the little parts of the board that you can play with," said Chu to AusGamers. This means that players can expect a polished and user-friendly UI for the game.
Chu has also hinted that, apart from cross-platform play, the team behind the game is still working on the possibility of putting the actual game into the World of Warcraft to maximise a second-screen experience.
"Right now, we're focusing on these platforms we've talked about in front of us, because we really want to get those out to all of those people and have those really great experiences. But yes, something like playing it inside of WoW could be really fun."
