If you have been waiting for the worldwide release of Plants vs. Zombies 2, PopCap Games still hasn't released any definite dates, but that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy the zombies, sunflowers, and brains in other ways.

At the recently held San Diego Comic-Con, the first two episodes of the Plants vs. Zombies: Lawnmageddon has been released, which is slated to be the comic book adaptation of PopCap 's defense game series. Published by Dark Horse Comics, it will be available for the iOS.

Polygon reports that the six-episode comics will be the project of Paul Tobin and Ron Chan, and will put Crazy Dave, Patrice, and Nate in a battle to defend their neighborhood from the horde of brain-loving zombies.

The comics will have an iOS app that will offer each episode at $0.99, and you can expect the remaining episodes to be available at on July 24 and 31, and August 7 and 14. For avid comic book collectors, a hardbound edition will be shipping to comic shops starting November 6.

"We're excited to see Plants vs. Zombies come to life as a comic book miniseries from one of the industry's coolest and most innovative publishers," said Jeremy Vanhoozer, franchise creative director for Plants vs. Zombies.

Game on with BrainBall for Facebook's PvZ Adventures

If you're just raring to fight off some zombies, you can also look forward to Facebook, where PopCap's game, Plants vs. Zombies Adventures received the recent addition of the BrainBall.

Taking a new direction from the tower defense strategy in order to give a more competitive edge to the game, BrainBall is a more interactive way to utilize not only the concept of brains and zombies, but also Facebook as a social medium. What will happen is that you have five brains to start off the game, one which you will have to hide in different locations within your town.

According to Gamezebo, you can hide many brains in just one area, but it'll be a riot for you when the zombies come attackin' and your place becomes a hotspot for a feast.

You can add to your loot by going out of your own town and stealing more brains from other players in the game. Now this is where it gets interesting, as you can take part in the BrainBall tournament every Tuesday, 10 a.m. PST, where you can top the leader boards, but with the downside of broadcasting to the world that you are one of those that have many brains whom they can steal from.

If you had been used to the tower defense of Plants vs. Zombies, you'll now be attacking other fortresses, organizing those attacks on those topping the boards with your own hordes of zombies which you will have to train.

You even have a counterpart of the sun to go along with the attack so that you can either add speed to your zombies' speed or freeze the plants lined up for defense. The reward for becoming the Top 5 in the BrainBall tournament will give you 150 red gems, which is the premium form of currency in the game.

This is a pretty nice way to develop some new strategies for defense--as you will, technically, need to defend your town from possible attacks--which you can use when the sequel comes out later this summer.
