Powerful Huawei Mate 8 specs show 3D Touch; out by November
Huawei, the third largest smartphone maker in the world, is ready with its next offering after releasing the high-end Nexus 6P. The recently leaked specs of the upcoming Huawei Mate 8 look really impressive.
The Mate 8 will sport a 6.0 inch QHD display with 1440 x 2560 resolution. The device will have Huawei’s own Kirin 950 mobile chipset on board in collaboration with HiSilicon.
A report in Tech Times revealed the aluminium built unibody handset has gone into mass production and is expected to be released in the latter half of November or early December. The 3 GB variant of the Huawei Mate 8 is likely to be priced at 3,299 Yuan (AU$721 or US$519) whereas the 4 GB model will come with a price tag of 3,899 Yuan (AU$852 or US$613).
Coupled with 16nm FinFET fabrication process and big LITTLE architecture, the handset promises extraordinary power. The powerful octa-core processor consisting of four 2.4GHz Cortex-A72 cores and four 2.0GHz Cortex-A53 cores could give the smartphone an edge over leading devices. With a Cat.10 LTE modem, the SoC is expected to be more powerful than Exynos 7420 and Snapdragon 810.
Furthermore, it partners with an impressive ARM Mali-T880, a i7 coprocessor and a Tensilica Hi-Fi 4 independent audio chip. With 32 GB and 64 GB storage options, the device will come packed with 3GB or 4 GB of RAM, respectively, reports Mobipicker.
The device touts a 13 MP rear camera along with an 8 MP front shooter. The Mate 8 will run on Android Lollipop with Huawei’s proprietary Emotion UI. Other than that, one of the unique selling propositions of the smartphone will be its purported Force Touch technology.
