Human Head Studios, the developer behind the critically acclaimed FPS "Prey," has revealed what it has been busy with lately. The developer has announced its next game as "Lost Within," which is a major diversion from the action/puzzle hybrid that the studio is recognised for the most. The newly announced title will be a horror game with gameplay elements that suggest a more survival horror leaning.

The most significant difference is that the "Lost Within" isn't a regular console or PC release. It's essentially a mobile game that will be published by Amazon Game studios. That explains why the platforms of choice for the game include the Amazon Fire phone and tablet according to Eurogamer. However, it won't be exclusive to Amazon's mobile devices, as the game will be released on the iPhone and iPad as well. There's no word on whether it will be ported to Android.

The game is set in the Weatherby Asylum for the insane, where patients were illegally experimented upon some 20 years ago. That is until the asylum staff began to go missing and it was condemned ever since. The game takes place 24 hours before the institution is scheduled for demolition, and it seems the place won't be going down without a fight. The main objective of the game is facing off with a famous killer locked within the doors of the institution.

Not much has been revealed about the rest of the story or the protagonist, but the trailer shows the player trapped in the asylum with scores of monsters. The creatures range from a skeleton bearing flaming head to a bandaged abomination that seems to be inspired by "Dr Who's" Weeping Angels. Human Head Studios hasn't clarified on the actual gameplay either. The trailer alludes that the game will be played in the first-person perspective, but it isn't clear how much of it is pre-rendered cinematics and actual gameplay footage.

"Lost Within's" survival horror elements come from its stealth-based gameplay. However, unlike recent games such as "Amnesia" and "Outlast," the mobile game won't just have you run away from monsters, although that is an option. The trailer does show off the player using a pipe bomb to take out a monster, so it's certain that defending yourself is an option. Moreover, Gamespot reports that the game will incorporate scavenging and weapon crafting elements to give the player a fighting chance in the asylum.

The game doesn't have a specific release date at the moment. All Human Heads Studios has given is a rather vague spring/summer 2015 release window.
