Prince George has reportedly taken after his mother, Kate Middleton, as a style icon. Dubbed as the “Prince George Effect,” the little royal caused a spike in the sales of Crocs shoes after the prince was spotted wearing one at the recent Festival of Polo.
Prince George sported the Crocs Kids's navy blue Crocband shoes while playing on the grass with his mum, Kate Middleton, at the Gloucestershire Festival of Polo on June 14. Crocs' U.K. & Ireland Country Manager Scott Lucas told Hello Magazine that the brand saw a surge in sales over the shoes soon after photos of the little prince at the polo event made it online.
“The pictures of Prince George in his Crocs were everywhere, from the U.K. to America and Australia to France,” he said. "Since the HRH Prince George was spotted wearing Crocs’ Crocband shoe in navy, our size 2 sold out immediately!" he added. Scott Lucas also revealed that “the shoes have since become a best-seller” all because of the “Prince George effect.”
According to the publication, Crocs “have seen a 16 fold increase in sales” since Prince George started wearing their shoes. Despite the increase in sales, Scott Lucas couldn’t be happier to see the little prince sporting their merchandise. "It was fantastic to see and obviously everyone at Crocs is happy to see Prince George wearing the shoes!" he said.
Royal fans have reportedly been copying Prince George’s fashion style ever since he landed as one of GQ’s “50 Best Dressed Men in Britain” for 2015. Aside from Crocs, Amaia Kids also saw an increase in sales after photos of Prince George visiting Princess Charlotte were released online. In his first visit to see his newborn sister, the toddler was photographed wearing a blue-coloured ensemble consisting of blue cardigan, shorts and blue long socks. According to Hello Magazine, the cardigan from Amaia Kids sold out within hours online.
Amaia Arrieta recalled when Kate Middleton had bought the clothes when she was still heavily pregnant with Princess Charlotte. She told the publication that the Duchess of Cambridge paid their Chelsea-based store a visit for the second time to buy three cardigans, three shirts and two pairs of shorts and long socks.
