PS4 Amazon Preorders Back; Will it Lose to Xbox One Kinect Now With 10X More Power?
Good news for those who still haven't bought their PS4 Launch Day bundles--Amazon has recently opened preorders again as supplies seemed to have been replenished, or at least been put in proper inventory.
Perhaps this is bad news for the likes of people who have bought re-sold PS4 consoles, some of which go as high as $9,999 on eBay.
The bundles that are now available at Amazon include launch bundles that feature the Watch Dogs bundle, the Knack bundle, the Battlefield 4 and PS Plus bundle, and the Killzone: Shadow Fall and PS Plus bundle.
According to PlayStation Lifestyle, this may be the last time preorders will open, given the very high demand for the console, as well as reports of it being sold out in various online retailers, so best to place your orders while you still can.
PS4 on the level of a high-end PC?
It's hard for the common gamer to really judge the power of the PS4 without having tried it out yet, but perhaps a comparison to something else would help.
According to Gaming Bolt, the PS4's power and architecture has been compared to and seen to be at par with a high-end PC.
"However, there should be very little difference between the PS4 and a high-end PC," said Compulsions Games' Sam Abbott to Gaming Bolt. "Contrast looks fantastic on both platforms right now, and we're excited to share how it's looking with people soon."
Basically, what this means is that the graphical features make the overall gaming experience as good as the power of PC gaming. Will this be enough for the PS4 to win over the Xbox One, which will deliver a different kind of gameplay with the Kinect?
PS4 without PS Eye: Can it battle the Xbox One with Kinect?
Microsoft has been adamant about the tandem of the Xbox One and the Kinect, going so far as to say that the box won't work without the camera, when rumours of a summer 2014 release of a standalone Xbox One.
But is it really because the Xbox One is a much powerful device, one that would even beat the PS4 when push comes to shove?
In a recent report via GameSpot, the Kinect has been listed to be 10 times more powerful than the first generation Kinect meant for Xbox 360. The statement comes from Rare Ltd development lead Nick Burton at the Comic-Con.
Some of the new features and capabilities of the new Kinect includes fingertip registration for as far as three meters, better mastery of precision, and measurement of even subtle movements while playing a game.
GameSpot adds that there will be a Champions feature, which focuses on capturing the player's overall body language and look and creating a virtual persona in seconds.
Since the PS4 is not slated for these kinds of developments, with the PlayStation Eye being more of an accessory add-on than a necessary function, does this mean that the Kinect will really be the defining feature to push Xbox One to win?
