The PS4 has been winning over people after every gaming event and convention in various areas of the world.

Down under in Australia, it seems that a good number of people---600,000 to be exact---are looking to get their own PS4 consoles when it releases on Nov 29.

This was according to a report from Roy Morgan Research, the largest independent Australian research company. In the report, the July-August 2013 findings have yielded that only 325,000 Australians are looking at the Xbox One despite an entire week of owning shelves on retail.

The fanbase that Sony has with the PS3 may be one contributing factor, as the research also found that 17 percent of PS3 users will move on to the PS4, while only 9 percent of Xbox 360 owners will move to Microsoft's next-gen platform.

"Besides the obvious benefit of being slightly cheaper than its competitor, PlayStation 4 has probably inspired more intent to purchase because it appeals to committed gamers, a group that tends to adopt and upgrade technology earlier than the more mainstream market that Microsoft are targeting with Xbox One," said George Pesutto, general manager of media and communications at Roy Morgan Research.

"Those intending to buy the Sony PlayStation 4 are more likely to be buying the console for themselves, whereas those planning to buy the Xbox One are more likely to want to share it or purchase it for someone else," he added.

Transfer Your PS3 Digital Content to the PS4--Not Exactly

If you are one of those who are getting the next-gen consoles this holiday season, GAME had some heartening bit of news that was easily squashed PlayStation Europe.

Quoted by The Sixth Axis, it seems that GAME has announced the possibility of transferring stuff over to the PS4. "Fantastic PlayStation meeting! Breaking Point---ALL your digital content from your PS3 WILL carry over on to your PS4!"

According to the report, this may be pertaining to the Gaikai functionality, which technically allows you to play PS3 games on the PS4. However, GAME has also followed up the news with the disclaimer that the aim for the project is for a 2014 implementation.

Transferrable games will only be limited to digital purchases. A NeoGAF posting even goes so far as to state that all PlayStation titles would be available with the Gaikai---meaning all games dating back to the PS1 content.

This could potentially solve the backwards compatibility problem, until PlayStation Europe responded with a denial of the claim made by GAME. Still, Gaikai can be a good piece of technology that would allow for such a thing to happen. Perhaps Sony is still ironing out the details to see which will work for its gamers once the PS4 releases.

If you have been playing the PlayStation since the first console, or even just the previous generation of consoles, then it's likely that you'll be one of those who will feel a tinge of nostalgia as you go down memory lane in this new PS4 commercial.

It's a time lapse version of how it feels like playing with all of the PlayStation consoles over the years, a nod to the generations that have grown with PlayStation and a celebration of an ever evolving way of gaming for players.

Sony knows how to roll out quite the nostalgic commercial, and it shows just where its loyalties lie: with the gamers themselves.
