PS4 Release Date Announced, Titles at Launch; PS3, PS Vita Get Respective Price Cuts
It really pays to have a buildup when you are presenting a new project, and Sony knows just what to do, the same way that it did for the PS4 at E3.
During their own conference, Sony has announced a number of lineups, new titles, and more indies that would be coming the way of the fanboys and new converts.
Starting off with what really needs to be known: a November release date has been pegged for the release of the much-awaited PS4 console.
VG 24/7 specified that those in the U.S. can get the console by November 15, while those in the Europe area need only wait a fortnight to get theirs on November 29.
Launch titles: PS4 33, Xbox One 23
Upping the ante seems to be a very familiar ground for the PS4, as after Microsoft announced that it will have 23 titles available at launch, Sony announced that the PS4 will have 33.
And while most of the titles for the Xbox One are noticeably AAA games like Battlefield 4, COD: Ghosts, Forza 5, Dead Rising 3, and Watch Dogs, Sony made it a point to give a mix of both the indie tiles and AAA games as well.
Come December alone, PS4 players can expect as many as 15 titles to be made available for the next-gen console including COD: Ghosts, Driveclub, Watch Dogs AC4, BF4, Need for Speed: Rivals, and Knack, to name a few.
Beyond the titles, other features for the console like the Sony Music Unlimited will also be available on Day One. What is also interesting is the announcement of Twitch coming to the PS4 while Sony is exploring partnership for better gaming and Internet speeds.
Price cuts on the way
And as predicted, price cuts for the PS Vita and the PS3 Super Slim version. The PS Vita now stands to sell for $199, reports CNet, a huge cut from its $249 original selling price, and this price change can be immediately felt, perhaps Sony's way of saying that you should prepare for Remote Play once the PS4 his during the holidays.
Those who may not yet be ready to get a PS4 this holiday season can enjoy the PS3 Super Slim, which is now also priced at $199 in the U.S.
But even with this, Sony also provides an enticing way to make sure that PS3 players will switch to next-gen in time as those who purchase specific titles of the PS3 will be eligible to buy the same titles on the next-gen version for a limited time.
Play the PlayStation Plus for a 14-day free trial run
In an effort to push the PS Plus, the feature for the PS4 that would allow for more multiplayer and online gaming options, as well as grant access to freebies and more content, Sony has announced that PS4 owners have a chance to try out what the subscription will bring for free.
As reported by various sources, the PS Plus will be made accessible for 14 days, activated once they get their game. Two games, Resogun and Driveclub will be available for access.
As an added bonus, those who get the PS Plus subscription as early as now would get 90 days into the membership for free. It looks like Sony is really ramping up the accessory efforts for the PS4.
