PS4 Update Details On Suspend/Resume Feature, Possible Improvements On Debugging and Implementing Systems Hinted
Sony has finally released the PS4 2.5 firmware update which has the most anticipated feature to date. The feature that has received the most attention in this update is the Suspend/Resume feature. This is due to how a lot of PS4 players have been clamoring for the feature for a long time.
On the latest PS4 2.5 update, however, there are some features that need a little bit of tinkering before they can be activated on the console. Gamepur has managed to take a closer look at the Yukimura update. Even after PS4 users download the 2.5 update, there is one more step to take to activate the feature.
According to Gamepur, PS4 users need to select “Keep Application Suspend” to enable the Suspend feature. This can be done by accessing the option in the Save settings. In doing so, players can avoid losing progress when using the Suspend/Resume feature.
Capping off the new updates for PlayStation platforms is the announcement of the PS Vita update. Digital Spy has spotted the firmware 3.5 update that has brought some improvement on the Remote Play feature on the PS Vita. The improvement features an adjustment on the framerate of up to 60 fps.
Other additional features that have been improved for the PS Vita involves improved scene searches in videos, removal of Maps application, functionality improvements and changes in some accessibility features. The last change involves button assignments, closed captions, changes in texts, screen contrast improvements, zoom in capability and inverted colour changing.
However, it appears that Sony is far from taking a break and going easy on the updates for the PS4. Gamingbolt found a new job listing that hints at some of the possible new PS4 features coming as improvements in future updates.
The source reports that Sony is currently looking for an experienced programmer to take on the PS4 console. The position will entail dealing with the improvements and features of the PS4 that involve graphics profiling and debugging tools. Support for GPU performance will also be part of the job, as well as designing some systems to profile and optimise titles meant for game developers.
Gamingbolt does note that the listing does not confirm additions to the PS4’s next or future update. It can easily be part of maintenance management and changes. Best to take it with a grain of salt until Sony finally hints at what could come in the next feature.
