The PS4 has finally enjoyed an entire weekend after its successful and massive launch in the UK, and it was a record-breaking event indeed.

Not only was the PS4 able to face off with the how the Xbox One did during its global launch, the PS4 has also set the record as the fastest-selling console in UK history.

This was marked by the 250,00 units that it sold, or according to Videogamer, 66% more than what the Xbox One had sold in the same region. And his was done in the first 48 hours since Sony's device hit the shelves.

As far as numbers for comparisons go, Forbes reports that compared to the PS4's 250,000 units, the Xbox One only managed to snag 150,000 during its first two days in the UK, which puts a whopping 100,000 units between the rivals.

Gaikai coming in by 2014

Gaikai service on the PS4, which promises access to a cloud-like experience for streaming PS1, PS2, and PS3 games when using the PS4, is a much-awaited service. And this is mostly hinged on the fact that this is the closest that a next-gen console can come to backwards compatibility with older generations.

It seems that the PS4 service will still be a ways coming, since CVG puts the pegged target release date in North America in Q3 of 2014. Despite the seemingly late placeholder date, the report's sources find this pace to be the natural course for the PS4 Gaikai service to take.

"We're on track to have a commercial service up and running in the U.S. first within 2014. That remains the plan and we're very much on track to reach that," said Andrew House, in an exclusive interview with Eurogamer quoted by CVG.

"Our goal is to be able to have a new form of game distribution streamed from the server side, initially to PS4 consoles then gradually moving that out to Vita."

The rollout of the service itself will take time to affect a more global perspective. As PlayStation Universe adds that Europe may have to wait a little longer for the PS4 Gaikai service, as it's slated for a 2015 release.

Things are best delivered if the process isn't rushed, and this may apply to Sony's PS4 Gaikai technology. This could prevent further errors, like the problems found for the PS4, while also maintaining a unique standpoint for the console in terms of backwards compatibility in streaming.

PS4 stocks still coming with regular shipments

Even with the record-breaking number of sales that the PS4 has enjoyed in the UK, still not everyone is an owner of a PS4.

If you're one of those unlucky few, you don't need to despair or look for cross-country ordering, as Sony assures that stocks will still come. DualShockers reports that Fergal Gara, Sony Computer Entertainment UK managing director, has assured fans that the stocks of the PS4 will replenish from the official launch leading to Christmas.

In an exclusive report, Fergal admits that the estimate of the demand was less than what the actual number was, and that Sony has tried its best to keep up with it. All that's needed now is for those who don't have a PS4 yet to remain vigilant.

"Stock is flowing over time so there [are] regular replenishments! Even if it was to sell out this weekend, we expect more stock to be available next weekend for example. It might pop in and out of stock between now and Christmas."
