Royal Wedding Mania Still Trending: A Slice Of Royal Wedding Cake Sells For £2500 Or $4160
In April 2011, the royal wedding mania has swept the entire world as Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot in a magnificent ceremony. In the passage of time, this has not lessened but the trending continues as a slice of the royal couple's wedding cake has been sold for £2,597 or $4,160 at a Beverley Hills auction.
The exquisite cake bought by a royal fan at an auction in Beverly Hills, California was prepared by Fiona Cairns. Cairns, speaking at Buckingham Palace after she had put the final touches to the cake, said: "The picture gallery has high ceilings and is an imposing room so I wanted the cake to have presence but not to be imposing and I think it worked."
"Catherine did not want it to be 7 feet tall, she didn't want it to be towering and thin, and I think we succeeded," she continued.
"We reflected some of the architectural details in the room so the garlands on the walls were reproduced loosely on the fourth tier - we've used roses, acorns, ivy leaves, apple blossom, and bridal rose," she added.

The exquisite cake snapped up by a royal fan at an auction in Beverly Hills, California. On Oct. 23, following the royal tradition a tier of the royal wedding cake (fruit cakes keep for years and aficionados say they get better with the passage of time) was presented at Prince George's christening.
It was a double treat for those who attended both the royal wedding and Prince George's christening ceremony as guests were treated with the fruitcake that was cut from the top of their eight-tiered wedding cake of the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge. The royals have a history of selling many edible souvenirs from wedding ceremonies as in 2011 four-piece of royal wedding cake were sold:
1. A piece of cake from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's fruit cake packed in an exclusive commemorative container with a compliment card from Prince Charles and Camilla
2. A piece of cake from the 1981 marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer
3. A piece of cake from the 1986 wedding of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson
4. A slice of the cake from the Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips' wedding
Also, in July 2012 a toast that was from Prince Charles and Diana's wedding breakfast sold for £230 at an auction.
