Rugby World Cup 2015: Fiji vs Uruguay preview
Two winless teams in the “Pool of Death” of the 2015 Rugby World Cup will eye to exit the tournament in winning fashion at Stadium MK on Tuesday. Fiji and Uruguay, both under the dominating force of Australia, Wales, and England in Pool A, will cancel each other for their first RWC try in the quadrennial tournament.
Uruguay will attempt to win their game against Fiji in Pool D of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, with coach Pablo Lemoine urging his side to score their first RWC try of the tournament. “It is our best opportunity [to win] and, without disrespect to Fiji, it is the only tier two team we will play,” Lemoine said, The Guardian reported.
Uruguay, a second favourite against Fiji, have made six changes in their lineup that suffered a crushing 65-3 defeat against Australia, who have booked a Rugby World Cup fixture in the quarterfinal round after defeating England at the weekend.
Uruguay will field Alejo Duran to replace injured Felipe Berchesi, who scored the team’s lone point of this year’s RWC. Uruguay have already lost twice to Fiji in 2015, but Lemoine’s side is looking to make an impact at Stadium MK for their RWC fixture against England next week.
However, it will be a tough challenge for Uruguay to overcome Fiji, with giant wing Nemani Nadolo returning from a suspension. Nadolo was suspended from Fiji’s clash against Wales in Cardiff for stamping.
Fiji coach John Mckee believes Nadolo can be a very dangerous player if the team can set up a field position for winger. The New Zealander coach also hinted that his players are very motivated to finish the tournament on a high note despite coming off a three-game losing streak, with the most recent loss coming from the hands of Wales 23-13 last Thursday.
“We’ve seen his [Nadolo] form not just in this tournament, but in Super Rugby earlier in the year,” Mckee said told World Rugby . “He’s a big man who can run fast and is very skilled.”
Nadolo, who played for Crusaders in Super Rugby and was tipped to be one of the breakout names in this year’s RWC, needs four tries to equal Fiji’s record for most tries held by Sanivalati Laulau.
