Russell Crowe on Goslings' Absence from Oscar Nominations: 'Bull***t'
The nominees for the 84th Oscar Academy Awards for 2012 were announced just last Tuesday. Though a few of the nominees rightfully earned a nod, a few film critics and Hollywood celebrities say some were snubbed by the Academy.
One of them would be Ryan Gosling and who better to announce his disdain than Russell Crowe.
The Oscar nominees were announced early last Tuesday by none other than Academy President, Tom Sherak. Accompanying him on his announcement was Oscar nominee during the last Awards Season and highly-anticipated star of the film adaptation of "Hunger Games", Jennifer Lawrence.
In the race for the Oscars, the films "Hugo" and "The Artist" both lead with a whopping 11 and 10 nominations respectively. "Hugo" carries the most number of awards ever nominated in all of Oscar history which is not much of a surprise considering how great the film was made.
Even world renowned franchise "Harry Potter" made it to the nominations despite earlier news of its' Oscar chance being flunked by the film "Bridesmaids." The film "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" managed to get three nominations.
As for actors who earned a nod, Gary Oldman got nominated for Best Actor in the film "Tinker Tailor Spy". He is joined by "Moneyball's", Brad Pitt, "The Descendant's", George Clooney, "The Artist's'", Jean Dujardin and "A Better Life's'", Demián Bichir. The full list of nominees for all categories can be found here.
Surprisingly, Ryan Gosling who lost the title for "Sexiest Man Alive," was not given a nod by the Academy. Critics are insinuating that his lead role in the film "Drive" could have earned him so. Gosling was snubbed by the Academy and a few columnists and fans openly shared their thoughts on this. Yet, their "open" ideas were nothing compared to how "Gladiator" star, Russell Crowe reacted.
The Oscar winner was a big fan of Gosling in the film "Drive" which was obviously why Crowe reacted violently to this. The actor took to Twitter and announced what fans of Gosling have been saying all along.
"Ryan Gosling didn't get an Academy nomination? There's some bulls--t right there," tweeted Crowe.
Thank You Crowe! Hopefully the Academy got the message. Though there is a zero possibility of the nominees being changed, a few fans of the hunky star, Ryan Gosling, still pray for a miracle to happen - that is for his name to magically appear on the list of Oscar nominees.
