Samsung Galaxy A9 officially announced; AnTuTu scores on par with Sony Xperia Z5, HTC One M9
The Samsung Galaxy A9 has been officially unveiled in China. It is the newest addition to the Galaxy A lineup of smartphones after Samsung introduced the Galaxy A8 in August this year.
Even though Samsung has only officially announced Galaxy A9 in the previous week, the device's entire specifications and features had been already revealed in various reports in the past few weeks. The Samsung Galaxy A9 is a huge smartphone as it features a 6-inch Super AMOLED screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. The side bezels of the Galaxy A9 measure 2.74 mm in width, Fone Arena reports.
The Galaxy A9 features a fingerprint sensor under the physical Home button. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 652 chipset that is supported by 3 GB of RAM. WCCF Tech reports that the 1.8 GHz octa-core processor along with Adreno 510 graphics of the Snapdragon SoC has recorded a whopping score of 73,592 on AnTuTu benchmarks.
Such a high score of the Galaxy A9 on AnTuTu indicates that the performance of the smartphone is on par with some of the recent flagship devices like Sony Xperia Z5 and HTC One M9, which are powered by Snapdragon 810 chipset. The Xperia Z5 and HTC One M9 have recorded AnTuTu scores of 76,862 and 79,965, respectively, Phone Arena reports.
The inbuilt storage of the Galaxy A9 is 32 GB. For additional storage, users can add a maximum of 128 GB microSD card on its external storage slot. There is a 13 MP camera on the rear panel of the smartphone. It comes with features like f/1.9 aperture, optical image stabilisation and flash. The front-facing selfie shooter is 8 MP.
The device comes pre-installed with Android 5.1 Lollipop, and houses a mammoth battery of 4,000 mAh that supports fast charging. Lastly, the smartphone will be available in multiple colour variants: white, gold and pink. However, there is no word yet on the pricing and availability of the Samsung Galaxy A9.
