Samsung Electronics Co Ltd is emerging as a major player in its local debt market, buying more South Korean-issued bonds as it juggles a $60 billion cash pile. Samsung's push into private bank debt and government bonds underscores the challenges faced by the electronics giant in managing its massive cash holdings, with local banks reluctant to overload on short-term deposits from Samsung. The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom has been released recently in June, whereas its predecessor Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom was launched in June 2013. Both the phones pack amazing features, and stunning camera specs that provide incredible user experience. Readers who are interested in purchasing the new Samsung Galaxy K Zoom or the Galaxy S4 Zoom should check out this specifications and price comparison.

Display, Exterior and Size

The Galaxy K Zoom features a 4.8 inches display with 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution, while the Galaxy S4 Zoom comes with a relatively smaller 4.2 inches display and it bundles only 540 x 960 pixels resolution. In addition both the phones use Super AMOLED display technology.

The front side of the Galaxy K Zoom looks similar to other Samsung Galaxy high-end phones but the back side of the phone looks like the replica of a hand-held compact digital camera. The rear camera consists of a large circular camera opening that bulges out and acts as the optical zoom, and a huge flash. The rims of the smartphone have silver edges with home button on the bottom and the speaker at the top. The Galaxy S4 Zoom, on the other hand, features a not-so-attractive bulging battery grip and it comes with a glossy plastic exterior. The phone is neither easy to hold, nor it looks good. Hence the new Galaxy K Zoom works like a charm by being able to do the job of a compact camera and a smartphone that is easy on the hands, says CNet.

The Galaxy K Zoom handset's thickness and weight stands at 0.65 inches and 130 g respectively, while the Galaxy S4 Zoom comes with a thickness of 0.61 inches and weighs 208 g.

Hardware, Software and Internal Storage

The Galaxy K Zoom is powered by a superior hexa-core (Exynos 5) processor, clocked at a combination of (quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 & dual-core 1.7 GHz Cortex A15), with a good 2 GB of RAM. On the other hand, the Galaxy S4 Zoom is powered by a relatively inferior dual-core Cortex-A9 processor, clocked at 1.5 GHz, along with 1.5 GB of RAM.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom runs on Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean, while the latest Galaxy K Zoom runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Both the phones come with 8 GB of internal storage with microSD card slot for expansion up to 64 GB.

Battery

The Galaxy S4 Zoom houses a 2330 mAh battery unit, which provides up to 13 hours of talk-time and 330 hours of stand-by time. The Galaxy K Zoom, on the other hand, houses a Li-Ion 2430 mAh battery unit, which provides up to 14 hours of talk-time and relatively better stand-by time.

Camera

The Galaxy S4 Zoom sports a good 16 MP rear-facing camera with Xenon flash and a 1.9 MP front-facing camera. The latest Galaxy K Zoom, meanwhile, sports a whopping 20.7 MP rear-facing camera with Xenon & LED flash combination and a 2 MP front-facing camera. The salient feature of these camera phones includes 10x optical zoom (24-240mm), and optical image stabilization (OIS). Also, other standard features include autofocus, burst mode, geo tagging, digital image stabilization, face and smile detection, panorama and HDR.

The 10x optical zoom functionality on the Galaxy K Zoom is equivalent to having a 240mm telephoto lens on the on the smartphone. Thus, even the minuscule details of the object/person in focus from a distance can be shot efficiently, according to CNet.

Sim

Both the Galaxy devices support micro-sim.

Colour

The Galaxy K Zoom comes in black, white, and blue colours. Nevertheless, the blue shade is not available widely. The Galaxy S4 Zoom comes in black and white shades.

Price

The latest Samsung Galaxy K Zoom with 4G LTE 8 GB is priced at AU$749.95, whereas the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom with 4G LTE 8 GB is priced at AU$339.95, this is a reduction from the original AU$369.95.
