Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Caught Running On Android 5.0 Lollipop [Watch Video]
Android users across the globe are looking to get the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update on board. Even though Samsung released the Galaxy Note 4 quite recently, the Galaxy Note 3 is still a favoured device by many users. But then, the South Korean conglomerate has not officially announced the date of the Android 5.0 roll out for the well-appreciated Note 3. The speculated date, however, is that Samsung might target early 2015 for the roll out. In the meantime, readers can check out the screenshots and video of the Note 3 running on Android L.
SamMobile has uploaded several screen grabs and a video showcasing Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop OS running on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. [Scroll down to watch the video.] Based on the released video, there seems to be no significant change from other Samsung phones with TouchWiz UI, running the Lollipop update. Nonetheless, Google's standard green colour seen all throughout the user interface has now been changed to blue colour by Samsung, says Phone Arena.
The general feedback given by SamMobile is that Android 5.0 Lollipop with TouchWiz UI on the Galaxy Note 3 lacks consistency. Moreover, the site also opines that there is nothing to boast about the user experience either. But readers should note that, by the time the update gets rolled out to the Note 3 users, some of the issues will be fixed by Samsung.
Last month, the Galaxy S5 was caught running on Android 5.0 L software update. Since, there is no substantial change in the Note 3 with Android 5.0 and TouchWiz UI, here are some of the pointers observed by SamMobile when the mighty S5 ran Lollipop update.
With Android 5.0 on board of the Galaxy S5, Samsung's patented system apps, namely Dialler, Messages, Memo and Clock, have been restyled with the Material Design guidelines. There is a brand new, good-looking lock screen from Android L. Notably, the lock screen in current-generation Samsung devices show only date and time. With the new update, the lock screen can now show optional notifications as well. Plus, a new "heads-up notification" feature has been added with the capability to alert S5 users of the incoming calls, messages and low battery notifications, without interrupting the current activity.
Furthermore, the Lollipop update brings in a built-in clipboard tool, which keeps track of screenshots and copied text. Another noteworthy addition is the MirrorLink support. With MirrorLink, the S5 users can mirror their smartphone's display on the car screen. Under the hood, Android L uses the new ART runtime. Hence, this particular OS version will be faster and the lags damaging the Android device experience will also be relatively lesser, opines the same site.
