The first and original of its kind, Galaxy Note is now receiving an official update from Samsung with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean UBLSF firmware. The developers of CyanogenMod made a 4.2.1 firmware version for Galaxy Note GT-N7000.

The CyanogenMod 10.1 design for Galaxy Note gives pure Android experience similar to the Google Nexus devices. CM10.1 is a custom ROM and requires a rooted device and a custom recovery on Galaxy Note GT-N7000. Here is the step-by-step guide on how to install it.

Requirements:

1. Before installing CM10.1 to your Galaxy Note GT-N7000, the device must be rooted and a custom recovery is installed.

2. Performing a custom ROM installation on your stock-based Galaxy Note will wipe all data. Make sure to backup all files, contacts, call log and SMS.

3. The battery level should be at least 60 per cent. A power interruption during installation can brick the device.

4. Download the CyanogenMod 10.1 for Galaxy Note GT-N7000 .

5. Download the Google Apps package zip file.

Instructions

1. After downloading both the CM10.1 ROM and Google Apps zip file, copy them to the SD card of your Galaxy Note GT-N7000.

2. Turn off the device.

3. Press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power key to boot the device into Recovery mode.

4. Once you see the boot logo, release all three keys.

5. Use the volume keys to navigate inside the recovery mode and use the power key to select any highlighted options.

6. Go to "backup and restore > backup". The backup process takes a few minutes.

7. After the backup, go back to the main menu and select "wipe cache partition > yes wipe cache".

8. Then select "wipe data/factory reset > yes wipe data".

9. Select "advanced" this time and choose "wipe dalvik cache > yes wipe cache".

10. After all that wiping, select "install zip from sd card > choose zip from sd card". Browse for the CM10.1 ROM you have downloaded earlier.

11. Select "yes install" to begin installation.

12. Use the same process for installation Google Apps zip file.

13. Once both zip files have been installed, go back to the recovery main menu and select "reboot system now".

14. The boot will take five minutes and should proceed normally.
