Display, Exterior And Size

The OnePlus One comes with a LG G3-like 5.5-inch LTPS LCD display, while the Galaxy S5 Active features a relatively smaller 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display. The screen resolution and the pixel density of the OnePlus One and the Galaxy S5 Active stand at 1,080 x 1,920 pixels and 401 ppi and 1,080 x 1,920 pixels and 432 ppi respectively.

When it comes to exterior, the OnePlus One handset comes with a magnesium exterior. In addition, the device's back panel is alterable with a choice of bamboo, kevlar and denim. The Galaxy S5 Active, on the other hand, is the rugged version of the 2014 flagship Galaxy S5. The handset comes with sturdy body, bolstered plastic edges and flat rear panel. It is worth noting that, the Galaxy S5 Active comes with water/dust resistant exterior, while the OnePlus handset doesn't. Furthermore, the rugged Galaxy S5 Active is shock resistant as well. Hence this handset is IP67 and MIL-STD-810G certified.

Both the handsets are 0.35-inches thick. However, the weight of the Galaxy S5 Active and the OnePlus One stand at 170 g and 162 g respectively.

Hardware, Software And Memory

Interestingly, both the handsets are powered by the same quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.5 GHz. While the Samsung phone comes equipped with 2 GB of RAM, the OnePlus One houses a solid 3 GB of RAM. The Galaxy S5 Active runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS with Samsung's TouchWiz UI, whereas the OnePlus One runs on the unique combination of Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS (upgradable to v4.4.4) with CyanogenMod 11S UI.

When it comes to memory, the Samsung handset offers 16 GB of in-built memory, while the OnePlus handset provides 16 GB and 64 GB of internal storage. In addition, the Galaxy S5 Active supports microSD card for expansion up to 128 GB, whereas the OnePlus One doesn't.

Camera And Battery

The OnePlus One sports a 13 MP rear-facing camera unit with dual-LED flash, whereas the Galaxy S5 Active sports a whopping 16 MP primary unit with LED flash. In addition, the Galaxy S5 Active and the OnePlus One house 2 MP and 5 MP front-facing shooters respectively.

Furthermore, the OnePlus One houses a much-powerful Li-Ion 3100 mAh non-removable battery unit, whereas the Galaxy S5 Active houses a relatively inferior 2800 mAh user-replaceable battery unit.

Connectivity, SIM And Colour

Both the phones support Wi-Fi, LTE, microUSB slots and NFC. However, the difference comes in the form of Bluetooth version. The OnePlus One goes one step further and supports Bluetooth v4.1, whereas the Samsung device supports the standard Bluetooth v4.0. In addition, both the phones support micro-SIM.

The OnePlus One comes in silk white and sandstone black, while the Galaxy S5 Active comes in green, grey and red shades. However, not all colours are widely available.
