Samsung Galaxy S5 Exynos-Based Version Gets Benchmarked, Release 'Coming Soon'

Samsung Galaxy S5 benchmarks with model number SM-G900H has appeared on GFXBench 3.0. This might signal the forthcoming release date of the Exynos-based version of the Samsung flagship smartphone.

Although reports claimed the Korean tech giant will launch two variants of Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung said it only has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 variant in MWC 2014. A day after the launch of Samsung Galaxy S5, an image was released in Samsung's blog indicating the future release of the octa-core version of Samsung Galaxy S5 at 2.1 GHz.

Also, in the same day, Samsung revealed the eight-core Exynos 5422 SoC at 2.1 GHz. With the recently benchmarked Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900H on GFXBench 3.0, rumors cited there will be an Exynos-based version of Galaxy S5 soon.

The model SM-G900H has been seen from alleged AnTuTu benchmark tests that showed that there will be two variants of Samsung Galaxy S5.

The SM-G900H variant of Samsung Galaxy S5 sports an Exynos eight-core CPU at 1.5G Hz, 2 GB RAM, ARM Mali-T628, 16 GB of internal memory and full HD screen which are quite similar to the benchmarks seen on GFXBench.

The CPU clock on the GFXBench test shows a 1.3 GHz, which is what the typical four Cortex A7 cores run at.

Another interesting thing about this benchmark test is the screen size, having 5.2-inches. The current Samsung Galaxy S5 sports a 5.1-inch screen but rumors suggested the premium variant, which might be released in May will come with a bigger screen at 5.2-inch.

The premium variant of Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to have a quad-HD screen. But the device in the benchmarks features full-HD screen. Samsung might be testing various combinations for the Exynos-based variant of Galaxy S5, which explains the difference in features.

According to Tech Times, the premium variant of Samsung Galaxy S5 release date will be after the event in May.
