Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 Release Date in the Fall, Samsung Exec Hints
A Samsung executive hinted the release date window for the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4.
Last year, the Korean tech giant released the Samsung Galaxy Gear, a wearable device which acts as a smartwatch-like accessory paired with Galaxy devices. Rumours suggested that Samsung is preparing more wearables for 2014, and the company confirmed that recently in CES 2014.
According to Samsung's Design America head of studio, Dennis Miloseski, Samsung is cooking more wearables for 2014 and there will be a "mix of devices" where some will function independently while others need smartphones to work.
"2014 is actually going to be a really big year," said Mr Miloseski. "We are planning some products around the launch of our flagship devices," he added.
Although he did not confirm the exact devices that Samsung has in store for its users, he reported launch windows for Samsung's upcoming wearables.
Samsung will not launch wearables alongside the flagship devices, he further added. Current plans about the release date of the Samsung flagships point to spring release date for the Galaxy S and fall release date for the Galaxy Note.
Even though he did not drop names, rumours suggest that the Galaxy S5 launch date will probably be this first half of 2014. Also, spring starts in March 20, and rumours say that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will land in March with a release date sometime in April or May. Samsung usually launches its Galaxy S devices in the first half of the year like the Galaxy S4.
On the other hand, Galaxy Note 4 rumours are quite non-existent, but some reports say that the device might come with a three-sided screen display. Historically, Samsung is known to release the Galaxy Note devices in the fall, thus Miloseski's report makes sense. In the past, Samsung released its Galaxy Note 3 with the Galaxy Gear, and it appears that the same trend will extend this year.
Reports say that the Galaxy S5 will sport a 5.2 inches QHD display, 16 MP sensor camera, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and possibly a metal chassis. It is expected to replace the current flagship smartphone of Samsung, the Galaxy S4.
