It was previously speculated that Samsung may unveil its new flagship smartphone sometime in early January. New rumours suggest the Korean giant might launch its next generation Galaxy S series at the Samsung Unpacked 2016 scheduled for Feb. 21.

There have been countless rumours and speculation about the features of the Galaxy S7. A report in SamMobile reveals there are possibilities Samsung might unveil the Galaxy S7 at the Mobile World Congress 2016 that will take place from Feb. 22 to Feb. 25 in Barcelona.

The company has also reportedly planned two variants of the new device, one sporting a flat display and another featuring a curved screen just like the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The smartphone may also sport two different screen sizes.

Another report states the new range will include three variants: Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 Edge Plus. The top-end “Edge” model will sport a top-to-bottom curved screen displaywith an unusual trapezoidal shape.

As for the hardware, there are rumours the Korean giant will come up with a unique plan to cater to diverse markets. The company will release the new range with three different processors on board for various markets. The beefier variant will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC for China and the U.S.

The Galaxy S7 will feature a standard 5.2-inch screen variant with 3GB of RAM and a premium 5.8-inch screen variant with 4GB of RAM, reports iDigitalTimes. Samsung is also tipped to introduce its own version of touch sensitive technology, ClearTouch, in collaboration with Synaptic. As speculated, Samsung will use the highly rated 23 MP IMX300 sensor on the Galaxy S7made by Sony.
