Samsung Galaxy S7 price, pre-order and release date in Australia
Both the newly launched Galaxy smartphones will go on sale from March 11.
Samsung launched its new generation of Galaxy smartphones at the Unpacked event on Feb. 21 in Barcelona. Major Australian telecommunications companies have listed both the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge on their websites.
Carriers including Telstra, Vodafone and Optus will start taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge from Feb. 26. Both the smartphones will go on sale from March 11.
Telstra is the first Australian carrier to announce the availability of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The Australian carrier will offer both the handsets in Black, Silver and Gold colour options with pre-orders starting on Feb. 26 at 12:01AM AEDT. All pre-orders will come with a free Gear VR headset.
Vodafone will also start taking pre-orders of the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge phones from Feb. 26. The carrier is yet to announce the plans and pricing of the new smartphones. However, it has confirmed that customers placing pre-orders by March 10 will get a free Gear VR headset.
Optus has listed both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge and put up a registration page for customers. The website confirmed that it will start taking pre-orders from Feb. 26 and offer a free Samsug Gear VR headset worth $159.
According to a report CNET, the Galaxy S7 will be priced at AU$1149 while the S7 Edge will be available for AU$1249 in Australia.
The new range of handsets look similar to that of Galaxy S6 series, but come packed with new features including water resistance and microSD card slots for memory expansion.
The Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch screen whereas the bigger curved S7 Edge features a 5.5.-inch display. Both the smartphones tout Quad HD Super AMOLED displays with 2,560x1,440-pixel resolution.
Other Galaxy S7 specs include Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8 Octa processor depending on the region, 4GB of RAM with either 32GB or 64GB of storage and a 12-megapixel camera. With the newly launched Galaxy handsets, Samsung Pay will also land in Australia in association with American Express.
