After various rumors and speculations the Samsung Electronics has officially announced its Galaxy Tab S2. It will be available in two different sizes i.e. 8.0-inch and 9.7-inch display. It is a follow up to last years’ addition of Samsung Galaxy Tab S which is available in 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch display screen. The new Galaxy Tab S2 will be available worldwide in August.

According to Mobile Syrup, JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division at Samsung, stated in a release, “The Galaxy Tab S2 is not only our thinnest and lightest tablet of its size ever, it also gives users quick, easy access to a wealth of superior viewing and productivity features." Shin further added that the company believes that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is the most complete personal visual device designed for consumers to carry and use anywhere. The Galaxy Tab S2 has been improved from its predecessor in most respects. Both the 8.0-inch and 9.7-inch variants sport a Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2048x1536. The 8-inch version weighs 265g whereas the 9.7-inch version getting a weight of 389g. It will be available in both LTE & Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi-only configurations. Both Galaxy Tab S2 models will be shipped with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and with TouchWiz overlay and feature a fingerprint sensor set within the home button. Both the versions will be powered by Exynos 5433 Octa-core SoC with 3GB of RAM.

The S2 tablets will sport either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage with a microSD card to add up to 128GB of extra storage, reports Android Central. The 8.0-inch version houses a 4,000mAh battery whereas the 9.7-inch variant comes in a 5,870mAh battery. Both the tabs feature a 8 megapixel rear and 2.1 megapixel front camera. As reported by Android Authority, both the devices will be available in either black or white and comes in an aluminum frame with a soft plastic rear panel. According to SamMobile the Galaxy S2 will be preloaded with a lot of Microsoft apps out of the box and users will also enjoy an additional 100 GB of free OneDrive storage for two years. Samsung has not yet announced the pricing of the tablets but SamMobile freezes on the below mentioned prices presumably for the 16GB models.
