Samsung Opens Third Facility To Produce 5 Million Dual-Edge Curved Screens A Month To Meet Galaxy S6 Edge Demand
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has quickly become one of the most in-demand smartphones of the season. After having reportedly underestimated the demand for the device, the Korean tech company is now working double time to meet the demand for its current flagship smartphone.
According to a source who claims to have “direct knowledge of the matter,” a third factory has been opened up to meet demand “surges” for the eye-catching Galaxy S6 Edge, as reported by Bloomberg. They are now aiming to produce five million dual-edge curved screens a month, instead of the initial production of two million.
Having the units sold out in various gadget stores is always a good thing, but Samsung had started to worry about the sales’ additional complications. Since buyers were quick to grab the unit off the shelves, Samsung now has to step up in their manufacturing process. With another production line opened, the manufacture of more dual-edge curved screen displays will certainly ease the problem.
As reported by Uber Gizmo, the third facility was actually supposed to be opened in June. However, the company had to open it at a much earlier date to meet the demand for Galaxy S6 Edge units. With three facilities working hard to produce one unit after another, it is expected that the Korean tech giant will be able to meet its forecast goal of 70 million shipments of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, combined.
Apart from the device’s sleek and premium design, a free Android smartphone app from Golgorz has also contributed to the list of reasons why potential buyers are lining up for the Galaxy S6 Edge, as pointed out by BGR. By installing the app from Google Play Store, the unit’s curved edges will glow whenever there is an incoming call. To make the feature even more interesting, the color of the glow can be set to correspond to a certain person from the Contacts list.
