With new features coming to “Dark Souls 3,” it’s gearing up to be another hardcore addition to the “Dark Souls” series by developer From Software. However, what can add to this experience may be found from the new reports that claim the revival of some old features from its predecessors, “Dark Souls” and “Dark Souls 2.”

As reported by Game Informer, the team behind “Dark Souls 3” is picking out the best gameplay elements from the previous titles, which they will use in the upcoming game. One of which is the ability to fast travel upon starting the game. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki enabled this feature to ensure that the gameplay is convenient for players.

Perhaps one of the bigger features included in “Dark Souls 3” is the respecialisation function. Basically, it is similar to the Soul Vessel item from previous games as it could be used to reallocate stat points. Another part of the core gameplay that will be returning is the Durability mechanic found in previous titles. However, From Software has tweaked the mechanic so that it is in a middle ground between “Dark Souls” and “Dark Souls 2.”

"I personally think the weapons in Dark Souls 2 break a little too easily," Miyazaki said to Game Informer. He added the mechanic was implemented so that players could try out all the weapons in the game. They had to tweak the mechanic as the weapons in “Dark Souls” barely broke, while the weapons in “Dark Souls 2” broke too much."

Gamespot reports that the bell system from “Bloodborne” will not be returning in “Dark Souls 3.” It will instead use the standard summoning procedure found in “Dark Souls” titles, which involves placing and finding summoning signs.

In the interview with GameInformer, Miyazaki detailed the magic system of the upcoming title. He says that the team wants to assure that each magic greatly differs from the other, saying that each spell will not be alike from each other but with different attributes.

Minor returning features include the New Game+ mode and the hidden wall mechanic. To reveal hidden walls, players will now have to press the interaction button when they are in front of it. The previous title required hidden walls to be attacked before being revealed. This made players accidentally discover secrets when engaged in battle.
