Sony Promises To Launch New Software Update Soon To Fix Xperia X3+ & Xperia X4 Overheating Problem
Sony has finally acknowledged a commonly reported complained with their Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4 units. Users of these flagship units have been complaining about their devices overheating – unwanted heat that can be easily felt through the unit’s glass panel on its back portion.
Apparently, according to the Japan-based tech company, certain apps cause these flagship smartphones to heat up, as reported by Tech Times. Although this problem has caused clients to be angry, Sony has insisted that this incident is actually pretty normal and must not overly concern Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4 users. Still, to address this issue, Sony will be launching a software update this summer.
In the Netherlands, it was found out that the main cause of overheating for the Xperia Z3+ was whenever the device was constantly being used to record HD videos.
After several minutes of video recording, a message will pop up and serve as a warning to inform the user that the app will be closing soon since the device’s temperature has risen far too high. Apart from recording videos, the device also overheats whenever the user watches HD videos on Netflix, or while playing certain games that have intensive graphics.
However, users of the Xperia Z4 in Japan have insisted that their units tended to heat up for no apparent reason. For these users, Sony has strongly advised them to immediately bring their overheating smartphones to the nearest authorized service center, according to Phone Arena.
Other Japanese carriers have also complained that other smartphone brands that are powered by the very same Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 had a tendency to overheat, such as the Sharp Aquos Zeta, and the Fujitsu Arrows NX, according to Tech Times. Since no repair has been created for this problem as of the moment, carriers have advised that users turn off their devices whenever they are charging.
