The Playstation 4 version 3.00 firmware is currently available to users in Japan who signed up to participate in the beta program of the console. The new firmware brings along several key features, including some that would enhance the social experience for players.

A report by Pocket News, which is translated by NeoGAF, shows the new features of the firmware that could hit other regions anytime soon. Aside from enhancements made to the user interface, the new firmware also rolls out Youtube broadcasting and support for short clips for twitter.

A new Events menu is also included in the recent firmware. This new feature will let users watch events related to Playstation. It is not yet sure what events these may be but it could be about press conferences or announcements for the console.

Another addition is a Community feature that allows players to create or join groups. These groups could serve as a gateway for players, who have the same gaming interest, to talk to each other. Lastly, the firmware update also gives users new ways to easily find out which games their friends are playing.

But one of the most awaited feature is the inclusion of Youtube into the system. This could be very useful for players as just recently, Youtube has announced its plans on starting up their own video streaming service that focuses on gaming. Polygon reports that the streaming service dubbed Youtube gaming is focused on Let’s Play videos, livestreams, speedruns, game trailers and more. The website and app will feature gaming content from the classics era up to the present so gamers of all generations can benefit from it.

Before the version 3.00 update, Sony released the version 2.50 last March. The update included much awaited features like the suspend/resume functionality, new button mapping feature that allows for better accessibility, and 60 fps support for Remote Play and Share Play.
