Sony Xperia X Compact & Samsung Galaxy J5 comparison, release date, specs, features & prices
Sony Xperia X Compact was revealed at the IFA 2016 in Berlin, Germany and is now available in select markets such as the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. The unlocked version has been priced at €449 (AU$670). The Sony Xperia X Compact and the Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 are being compared as they sport some amazing specs.
The Xperia X Compact has curved edges, weighs 135 grams and measures 129x65x9.5mm. It’s available in colors such as Rose Gold, Gold, Black and White. The Samsung Galaxy J5 is heavier but slimmer compared to the Xperia X Compact weighing and measuring 159 grams and 145.8×72.3×8.1mm. It is available in Ceramic, Mist Blue, Universe Black and Stylish White.
The Sony Xperia X Compact supports a resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 319 ppi and comes packed with an IPS LCD display of 4.6 inches. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 supports a resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 282 ppi and has a larger AMOLED display of 5.2 inches, writes Neurogadget.
The Galaxy J5 has a removable battery of 3,100mAh whereas the Xperia X Compact has a 2,700mAh non-removable battery. When it comes to storage, the former has an internal storage of 32GB while the latter has only half its capacity. Both have a microSD card slot to expand memory up to 256GB.
The Samsung Galaxy J5 is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chipset, 2GB RAM, Adreno 306 graphics card and a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz. The Xperia X Compact uses a higher-capacity Qualcomm MSM8956 Snapdragon 650 chipset, 3GB RAM, Adreno 510 graphics card and a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.4GHz.
The Sony Xperia X Compact has an incredible 23MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP secondary camera. Other features include face detection, touch focus, panorama, HDR and phase-detection auto-focus. The Galaxy J5 2016 has the same 5MP secondary camera and a 13MP primary camera with features such as geo-tagging, face detection, LED flash and auto-focus.
Sony has not announced details of Xperia X Compact’s availability in Australia as of now.
