Sony's Xperia Z3 and the mini version Xperia Z3 Compact will hit the Canadian store shelves shortly. According to a recent report, a Canadian consumer pre-ordered the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact at Yorkdale mall, Toronto. The quoted price of the Xperia Z3 Compact is $599.99. In addition, the bigger Xperia Z3 will set the buyers back by $699.99. Moreover, the Xperia Z3 can be availed from Bell, TELUS, MTS, Rogers, SaskTel and WIND Mobile.

The aforementioned prices are the actual prices of the Xperia Z1 and the Z2 when the devices were released, says Phone Arena. Mobile Syrup has updated its site stating that the Xperia Z3's preorder window in Canada went live for a short while by mistake. However, Sony issued a statement saying the preorders taken on Oct. 1 inadvertently will however be honoured.

Furthermore, the bigger Xperia Z3 will be released on Oct. 31 in Canada. This means, the compact version will follow suit sooner than later. Earlier rumours suggested that both the Z3s will be released on Oct. 31, however the news turned out to be incorrect. The reason could be that either the network carriers requested for more time from Sony, if not, the company is trying to stock up more devices gauging the demand, says Phone Arena.

It is worth noting that, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is one of the very few mini smartphones that bundle flagship-like specifications in a tiny body. Nonetheless, the pricing is quoted corresponding to the loaded specs. Despite this, potential buyers with keen interest in getting a handset that fits right into the pocket and carries out everything a bigger flagship phone can do, will benefit from the Z3 Compact. Moreover, the handset can be operated by using just one hand.

The major difference between the two handsets is the display size. The Xperia Z3 comes with a 5.2-inch display and 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution, whereas the Xperia Z3 Compact features a 4.6-inch screen with 720 x 1,280 pixels resolution. In addition, the battery units of the bigger and the compact device stand at 3100 mAh and 2600 mAh respectively. Also, the RAM configuration varies. The Xperia Z3 is backed by 3 GB, while the Xperia Z3 Compact comes equipped with 2 GB of RAM.

Other Killer Features

Both the smartphones come equipped with a superior 20.7 MP camera and dust- and water-proof exteriors (IP68 Certified). Sony's Android interface is one of the standout points that offer required and useful features without going overboard, like in the case of custom UIs. Also, the phones run on Android v4.4.4. Instead of the regular purple hue seen in other Z series of devices, the company has introduced two new shades namely silver green and copper brown.

The Xperia Z3 handsets can shoot 4K videos and support 8x digital zoom, Burst Mode, HDR and Image stabiliser. Very importantly, the metal frame surrounding the corners of the handset is protected by a hard nylon covering. This means, the covering can minimise the damage caused to the smartphone from accidental fall. Lastly, even the mini device comes with the same powerful 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor.
