Sony's first major revelation in the IFA conference this year is a new smartphone, the Xperia Z5. The particular device boasts "next generation camera features" that include a super-fast autofocus, a 23-megapixel camera and a highly improved zoom.

Apart from that, Tech Times also reported that the Xperia Z5 has a very impressive battery life. According to the report, Sony claims that the device can be used for up to two days. It is also encased in a waterproof glass and a metal frame. Its power button, which is located on the device's side, may also be used as a fingerprint sensor.

The device reportedly comes in multiple variants. There is a premium version that boasts 4K video capability, and there's also a smaller, compact model.

Clearly, Sony has amped up the specs of the Xperia Z5, which is only expected, considering that the company has been reported to have had struggles in the market lately. According to Engadget, Sony's sales have been dramatically dropping, especially after half-hearted efforts in the mobile arena, such as the Z3 and Z3+. The report even mentioned that the company is losing over $1 million each day just trying to keep afloat in today's highly competitive market.

The Sony Xperia Z5 is deemed as the company's way of re-establishing its spot in the market. It is the very first smartphone to sport a 4K display and immensely tiny fingerprint scanners.

The Sony Xperia Z5 is also the company's first time -- after such a long time -- to launch a trio of flagship handsets simultaneously. The Z5 family of smartphones include the Z5 Premium, the Z5 and the Z5 Compact.

These three devices reportedly share the same specs, but the Premium variant is said to be the most interesting one with a 5.5-inch 4K display with 3,840 x 2,160 pixel resolution and 806 ppi. Other devices might be at par with the Z5 Premium, but based on pixel density, it is definitely the smartphone to beat.
