'Spider-Man' Movie: Dan Slott Discuss 'Kraven's Last Hunt' As The Possible Plot Line, Talks Casting Of Peter Parker
Since the introduction of Spiderman in Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is much buzz about the plotline of new “Spider-Man” film. The studio is yet to reveal any concrete details about the solo Spiderman film; however, Marvel Comics writer Dan Slott feels that it will be a great idea to base it on The Amazing Spiderman comic book "Kraven's Last Hunt.” According to him it is a great story.
“There are things that work in a comic, and then there are things that you can only do in a movie. But I think if someone, as a starting point, took 'Kraven’s Last Hunt,' which is one of the greatest Spider-Man stories ever told, I think you could have a phenomenal movie,” he said in his interview to Verge.
“Kraven's Last Hunt” is written by J. M. DeMatteis and it follows the story of Kraven who apparently kills Spiderman and buries him. He then dons the replica of Spiderman’s suit and tries to prove himself superior to Spiderman. Spiderman later revives himself and confronts Kraven.
It is not known what plot MCU and Sony will use for the new “Spider-Man” film. However, if Kraven’s storyline is used then it could take the “Spider-Man” franchise in a new direction. Meanwhile, Dan also shared his thoughts about Spideman coming to MCU. He was reportedly “side-swiped.” Reportedly, he was surprised as he “did not see it coming.” He also spoke about casting of Peter Parker and how anyone can casting should be made open to everyone.
According to Dan, there are no peculiar characteristics of Peter Parker and anyone can play a “nerdy outcast." Spiderman can reportedly be anyone as he was first introduced to the fans with the mask which gave him the “freedom to be anyone.” Andrew Garfield was the latest actor to play Spiderman in “Amazing Spider-Man 1 &2.” It is not confirmed whether he will reprise the role or will there be a new actor who will play the role. The buzz is that Marvel is looking for a younger actor to play Spiderman, according to Collider.
