"Star Wars Rebels" is now available for free to stream on StarWars.com. The hit series was made available for free on May 2, the offer will end on May 4. Disney XD and Lucasfilm Ltd. have take this step as part of the "Star Wars" Day celebrations.

According to ComingSoon.Net, "Star Wars Rebels" has 13 episodes clocking in at around 23 minutes each. The 45-minute premiere "Sparks of Rebellion" is also available for free streaming. These episodes were viewable only to people with cable subscriptions to Disney XD.

The second season of "Star Wars Rebels" will kick off on June 20. The trailers for season two seem to indicate the show will be upping the ante, as Darth Vader becomes directly involved in trying to put a stop to the rebel activity on Lothal. The trailer also reveals that several familiar faces from the "Clone Wars" TV series will be making appearances. (Watch the trailer below.)

"Star Wars Rebels," set five years before the events of "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" is an important story in terms of the "Star Wars" universe. The show has already appeared in video game form with mobile games and a Zen Pinball board.

The series follows a small group of rebels as they fight the Empire on a backwater planet in the Outer Rim called Lothal. Eventually the Empire takes notice, with characters like Grand Moff Tarkin stepping in to eliminate the rebels. A number of familiar faces pop up throughout the season as well, such as Senator Bail Organa and Lando Calrissian.

"Star Wars Rebels" premiered worldwide on Disney Channel on October 3, 2014. Regular episodes began airing on Disney XD on October 13. The series was the first new major "Star Wars" project to be released following The Walt Disney Company's acquisition of Lucasfilm Ltd. in 2012.

This is just part of the celebration for "May the fourth" or "Star Wars" Day. There are many sales going on the web including, according to TechCrunch.com, great deals on old-school Star Wars games via Steam, GoG.com and the PlayStation Store.

The latest movie in the space saga, "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens," is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18. Disney plans to release a new trilogy of "Star Wars" films between now and 2019, with spin-off movie "Rogue One" also due to debut in 2016.
