‘Star Wars' Spinoff Plot Will Include Boba Fett's Family Stealing The Death Star's Plans—Report
It’s long been speculated that the “Star Wars” spinoff movie will feature Boba Fett and Han Solo. While Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to either confirm or deny this rumour, another report claimed the standalone film will actually focus on Boba Fett’s family.
The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider claimed that the “Star Wars” spinoff film is rumoured to involve Boba Fett’s family. Likewise, Chris Weitz is reportedly rewriting Gary Whitta’s screenplay to add another male lead character. This character is still unnamed, but as per Den of Geek, actors Aaron Paul (“Need for Speed”) and Edgar Ramirez (“Deliver Us From Evil”) are in contention for the role. Sneider also said that Aaron Paul is being eyed for the part.
Having Boba Fett’s family involved in the “Star Wars” spinoff film reportedly coincides with previous speculations about the movie’s plot. Rumours have it that the story in the spinoff movie will be based on the events during the “New Hope” era, where it was believed to be a period of rebel spies who managed to steal the Death Star's plans.
According to a previous report from Slashfilm, the standalone film will focus on a group of characters who will try to steal the plans for Death Star. These characters are believed to be the bounty hunters and not the Rebel Alliance.Whether Boba Fett or his family is involved in the plan remains unclear. However, Dominic Jones from Star Wars Underworld supposed it’s likely for Boba Fett’s family to be involved with the rebellion. “Perhaps it was Boba Fett's family that helped the rebellion steal the Death Star plans,” he said. Slashfilm added that the bounty hunters could actually stand in for the rebels in the “Star Wars” spinoff. The plot would reportedly involve the bounty hunters being hired by the rebels to steal the Death Star’s plans.
Entertainment news site iKwiz.com claims a movie insider has confirmed that Michael Fassbender will be playing the role of Boba Fett in the spinoff movie. The same source also teased the return of the character to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Boba Fett has reportedly become a cult status that Disney has planned for him to be included in future “Star Wars” films.
