'Super Smash Bros.' Nintendo Direct: three new characters revealed
Nintendo recently held the last Nintendo Direct geared specifically for hit-fighting game, “Super Smash Bros.” Seeing as it is the last, the company released a whole lot of new information coming to the game. The final video presentation for “Super Smash Bros.” brings a slew of character costumes, stages and three new characters as well.
The video presentation starts off with the reveal of a brand new character, Corrin. The character is from the upcoming “Fire Emblem” game to be released this February. Like the Wii Fit Trainer and Robin from the “Fire Emblem” series as well, Corrin can be played as either a male or female model. However, there’s no tactical or stat difference between the two models.
Nintendo is also offering a bonus for players who purchase Corrin when it releases in February. Wii U owners will receive two new bonus tracks, while 3DS owners will receive two special trophies.
Next up, game creator Masahiro Sakurai detailed the new character from “Final Fantasy VII,” Cloud Strife. Sakurai also revealed the stage coming along with Cloud called Midgar. In the stage, players can pick up Materia. Being able to successfully secure one will protect the player from any summoned monsters including Bahamut Zero, Ifrit, Ramuh and Odin.
The last new DLC character is Bayonetta from the famous Wii U series. She will also come with her own unique stage; the Umbra Clock Tower. Purchasing her will secure Wii U players with several new soundtracks.
The next batch of Mii Fighter costumes have also been revealed. Gamespot lists the costumes down and it includes:
- Geno (Super Mario RPG)
- Chocobo Hat (Final Fantasy)
- Bionic Armor
- Takamaru (game unreleased in US)
- Ashley (Wario Ware)
- Gil (Tower of Druaga)
- Tails and Knuckles (Sonic)
Sakurai also revealed a batch of new amiibo’s going on sale this coming March. The amiibos include Ryu, Ike and R.O.B. Figurines of Cloud, Bayonetta and Corrin are also confirmed by Nintendo but a release date is yet to be announced.
